One way to beautify your home is with framed art. Art also shows off the personality and style of the home. I you were to look in our home all the art you would see would be religious art, mostly art by Greg Olson. Perhaps the coolest piece of art is a painting that my husband got in Mongolia while on his mission. He taught an artist who painted a picture of a mongolian artist, he re-did the painting with my husband's face as the warriors face and sold it to him.
Pay Less Homestyle has a large collection of masterpiece, contemporary and group oil paintings. Iron art, sculptures, wood paintings, clocks, plates and vases. Prices start as low as $25 for art on clearance.
I actually found a painting that my parents had. As a child I thought it quite a strange painting but now I can appreciate the artistic elements of it.
As you read with your toddler she will learn that words are read from left to right and top to bottom. Encourage your toddler to point out objects in pictures and increase his language skills by expanding on what he says. For example if she points to a bunny and says “bunny” you can say “yes, that’s a furry brown bunny”. Choose books for your child based on his interests such as trains or dinosaurs. Many toddlers have a special story that they want you to read over and over and often their favorite story changes every several weeks.

Cuddling with your baby as you read to him or her can be a special moment both of you can cherish each day. Reading to a child is different than just talking to them. When you show your baby the pictures in the book and explain what they are, they learn that there is a connection between the pictures and the words. Aim for 30 minutes of reading with your baby each day. Start with just a few minutes and then gradually read for longer periods (“Parents Should Read To Children At An Early Age, Experts Say”, 2005). Reading times can also be broken up throughout the day.
The best books for babies are sturdy board books or cloth books that they can play with. Babies will also enjoy a book that has a variety of textures, squeaky noises and objects that pop-up.
Choose times during the day that your baby is alert and set routine reading times. Choose books that rhyme, are predictable and have bright simple pictures. Many babies also enjoy hearing the same books read over and over again, having a collection of several books will be sufficient. As your baby gets older you can expand her vocabulary by pointing out the objects in the pictures such as the animals by name.

They offer two versions of mint credit cards. The first one is a regular credit card and the the second one is called a MC2 card which is a card that has the bottom right-hand corner removed.
All Credit cards will have a 0% interest rate on balance transfers and purchases until December 1st 2007 and after that you will get up to 56 day interest-free period on purchases then the typical APR will be 16.9 %.
If you are looking for a gift for someone but aren't sure what to get, Mint Online offers Mint Gift Cards. These are pre-paid credit cards that allow the reciever to make purchases anywere. These would be a better option than merchant gift cards that limit purchases to one or a few different stores. Great gifts for weddings and baby showers, where people often recieve doubles of the same gifts.
When we think of literacy we usually just think of books but it is a lot more than that. Literacy involves the whole language which is reading, writing, speaking and listening. Engaging children in fun and enriching literacy activities from birth is the best way to instill good language and reading skills in your child.
Susan B. Neuman, a secretary for the U.S. Department of education stated that “developing a child’s lifelong love of reading is one of the best gifts a parent can give to his child. And that begins by reading out loud every day. It’s never too early to start, and it’s the single most important thing you can do to help your child build his literacy skills. (“Read to Me!”, 2005)” Be a good model for your child. Let them see you reading and writing and engage the family in a conversation about a book or a magazine article you just read. Fill your home with reading and writing materials as well as music and family conversations.
There are some Rumors that Pay Per Post has a big announcement coming in the next few weeks. So all of us "posties" (those who write for Pay Per Post) are trying to figure out what is could be.
I have two theories about what the big news could be.
First of all Pay Per Post recently allowed their advertisers to segment blogs so that only people who meet certain page rank requirements, Alexa ranks, categories etc... can take their opportunities. There have been a lot of complaints with the accuracy of Alexa ranks and I agree with those complaints. My traffic is increasing while my Alexa rank is also increasing, when the idea is to get your alexa rank lower. The problem with alexa is that they only count those that visit your site who use the Alexa toolbar or the Alexa redirect. The toolbar contains a lot of spyware so I don't recommend it. I think that maybe Pay Per Post will have their posties place a widget on their blogs that keeps track of how many visits that blog gets a month. Advertisers can then segment blogs based on how many visits that blog gets a month for example they may only allow those who get at least 1,000 visits a month. This will bring more fairness to bloggers and advertisers.
My second theory is that Pay Per Post might actually be doing something with Performancing.com, Performancing was a blog advertising company that never really took off and Pay Per Post recently aquired it.
These are things that I actually hope will happen, it will be cool if one of them is actually the big news.
This is hilarious, however it is a made up story. It seems that a lot of people believe that this story is true, which just seems crazy to me. Why did they have to say that this "Kathy Evans" is from Idaho? Do they want to make Idahoan's seem dumb? Anyways just for laughs, here is the story:
Idaho resident Kathy Evans brought humiliation to her friends and family Tuesday when she set a new standard for stupidity with her appearance on the popular TV show, "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire."
It seems that Evans, a 32-year-old wife and mother of two, got stuck on the first question, and proceeded to make what fans of the show are dubbing "the absolute worst use of lifelines ever." After being introduced to the show's host Meredith Vieira, Evans assured her that she was ready to play, whereupon she was posed with an extremely easy $100 question. The question was: "Which of the following is the largest?" A) A Peanut B) An Elephant C) The Moon D) Hey, who you calling large?
Immediately Mrs. Evans was struck with an all consuming panic as she realized that this was a question to which she did not readily know the answer. "Hmm, oh boy, that's a toughie," said Evans, as Vieira did her level best to hide her disbelief and disgust. "I mean, I'm sure I've heard of some of these things before, but I have no idea how large they >would be." Evans made the decision to use the first of her three lifelines, the 50/50. Answers A and D were removed, leaving her to decide which was bigger, an elephant or the moon. However, faced with an incredibly easy question, Evans still remained unsure. "Oh! It removed the two I was leaning towards!" exclaimed Evans. "Darn. I think I better phone a friend." Using the second of her two lifelines on the first question, Mrs. Evans asked to be connected with her friend Betsy, who is an office assistant. "Hi Betsy! How are you? This is Kathy! I'm on TV!" said Evans, wasting the first seven seconds of her call. "Ok, I got an important question. Which of the following is the largest? B, an elephant, or C, the moon. 15 seconds hun."
Betsy quickly replied that the answer was C, the moon. Evans proceeded to argue with her friend for the remaining ten seconds.
"Come on Betsy, are you sure?" said Evans. "How sure are you? Puh, that can't be it."
To everyone's astonishment, the moronic Evans declined to take her friend's advice and pick 'The Moon.'
"I just don't know if I can trust Betsy. She's not all that bright. >So I think I'd like to ask the audience," said Evans.
Asked to vote on the correct answer, the audience returned 98% in favor of answer C, 'The Moon.' Having used up all her lifelines, Evans then made the dumbest choice of her life. "Wow, seems like everybody is against what I'm thinking," said the too-stupid-to-live Evans. "But you know, sometimes you just got to go with your gut. So, let's see. For which is larger, an elephant or the moon, I'm going to have to go with B, an elephant. Final answer." Evans sat before the dumbfounded audience, the only one waiting with bated breath, and was told that she was wrong, and that the answer was in fact, C, 'The Moon'.
There seems to be so many trashy movies out lately that it is always nice to hear about uplifting movies. On March 9th, a new movie, "The Ultimate Gift" will be coming out to theaters in Canada and the United States.
"The Ultimate Gift" is based on a book of the same name, Written by Jim Stovall, that has inspired people to donate millions of dollars to charities. I watched the trailer here, what I got from the trailer is that the movie is about a man who has always been very wealthy and when his wealthy grandfather dies he is expecting a large inheritance. However he finds that his inheritance is instead a requirement of twelve "gifts" that he needs to give. This causes him to work harder than he ever has before and takes him on a journey of self discovery. This of course being a typical movie leads to romance. This is the official site of the movie; The Ultimate Gift; and the grass-roots movement its starting to help charities and give to others.
I would really like to read this book before seeing the movie. I am surprised I have never heard of it before especially after reading all the rave reviews on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. In Many of the reviews, readers have stated how much this book has helped them turn their lives around.
The adorable actress, Abigail Breslin, in "Little Miss Sunshine" also stars in this movie. Other Stars include James Garner, Drew Fuller and Ali Hills. It is rated PG.
I just posted about how there is no excuse to buy healthy food now for those who are serious about changing their eating habits and loosing weight try some ofo these Tips To Lose Weight.
I really believe that you need to continually reward yourself for living a healthy lifestyle. You can do this in the form of "forbidden" treat once a week (it can't hurt that much, right?) or if you prefer a non food reward, buying some new clothes or nice smelling lotion might be the motivation you need.
Do you know what one of my pet peeves is? It is people who complain about having to loose weight and blame their eating habits on not being able to buy healthy foods. The cost of junk food is the reason why my husband and I hardly ever buy it.
People who believe that it is cheaper to buy junk food than healthy food don't know how to shop. A pound of apples is usually going to be cheaper than a pound of candy, it has a whole lot less calories in it and will fill you up more. Also junk food tends to be eaten quicker than healthy food. How many families don't finish a package of cookies in less than 3 days? Hardly any!
Sure you can make the argument that pop is cheaper than juice. But water is a whole lot cheaper than pop and besides more than 2 servings or juice a day is not good for you either.
Look through your fliers and coupons to find sales on healthy food and stock up on those if they are non-perishable. Go to the bulk section, buying from there will cost you only a fraction of the packaged costs. The price reduction for spices and yeast is amazing. Also if you or a friend have a membership to costco or sams club you can split the price on some foods and share it with a friend if you wont eat it all before it expires. I know at costco the price of 3 heads of lettuce is just slightly higher than it is for one.
The internet is, I believe one of the worlds greatest inventions. It makes it easier for us to communicate with family, friends and business partners all over the world. It also gives us the opportunity to recieve more knowledge than any volume of encyclopedias at our finger tips. The internet has helped create thousands of jobs and have made it easier for stay at home moms to make some income from their homes while caring for their children.
However, the internet has also made it easier for people to access evil such as pornography, spreading hate and even teaching people how to make bombs.
We can't protect the whole world from evil but we can at least stop it from entering our homes. One way to do this is by getting spy software. It is a program that allows you to see what people are viewing on your family's computer. Even if we have complete trust in our children and spouses it is still a good idea to have. Sometimes children may not realize that something they have done is dangerous but if we take the time to look up what our children are doing we can explain to them why something they did was dangerous.
Other important things to do to protect our families is to have the computer in a public area of the house and have our computers protected with an anti-virus and anti-spyware software.
At the Hunna's Happenings Blog, the author is participating in a relay to raise money for the American Cancer Association. She is participating in the relay in memory of her mother. If you would like to help her out, you can go to her blog and donate for the cause.
In todays business lifestyle much of the communication takes place through wireless technology. This allows businesses to communicate with just about anyone, anywhere.
I found a wealth of information about secure and reliable wifi for business on The Cisco Unified Wireless Network, which is based in the United Kingdom. They specialize in providing businesses with secure, reliable and cost effective wireless networks.
Whether you work for a large corporation or a small homebased business your business could benefit from wireless communication. It would enable you to go online to do business while at a child's soccer practice or at an airport while travelling. You would no longer need to spend all day and evening at the office, allowing you more time to spend with your family.
Here is a little update on my pregnancy. I am due on July 19th and I have decided to start a baby poll. You can participate by going to this link: http://www.melissaclee.com/?page_id=26
I think this will be lots of fun and it will be exciting to see what everyone says. I am especially looking forward to seeing what my Dad says. He was right on with Sariah except a few ounces off on the weight.
The CEO of get paid to blog program, Pay Per Post, Ted Murphy has started a new site called Rock Start Up. It is an online reality show whose cast is made up of the Pay Per Post team. You can find a list of the cast, complete with pictures and biographies at rockstartup.com. Sometimes some of my fellow Pay Per Post "posties" are on this reality show.
Ted has had this site for awhile now but today was actually the first time that I had seen it. It was fun to watch these shows and learn a little more about the people that helping me make money. I thought the episode about the team weighing themselves and deciding on a target weight loss was kind of strange because hardly any of them looked like they needed to loose weight.
My favorite episode was about Jules' (a fellow postie) wedding. Pay Per Post was just finishing up with a wedding contest when I joined so Jules winning the contest was pretty big news at the time. I love weddings and it is fun to see people getting ready for their big day. It was of course nothing like my wedding but it seems like Julie and her husband had a blast.
It is always fun to look at other people's blogs, learn something new and maybe get some layout ideas for what I would like to do with my blogs.
Here are some great blogs I looked at over the weekend:
Beth is a mom to three beautiful girls. I loved her household tips, I can always use more advice on cleaning.
I also found someone who blogged about the recent peanut butter recall as well. Unfortunatly she actually consumed some Peter Pan peanut butter. I hope she doesn't get salmonella.
Karen posted some pretty pictures of her recent snowfall. I don't like to go outside in the snow but I love to see pictures of snow.
Here in Eastern Idaho it is very cold but the sun is also very bright and with no trees to help block the sun so it is a good idea to have sunglasses. We finally got some Sunglasses for my husband a couple months ago since he was always complaining about the sun being in his eyes while he was driving.
Right now you can get Prada Sunglasses at BestBuyEyeglasses for an extra 5% discount off Best Buy Eyeglasses already discounted prices. Just enter in coupon code: ETP5P at checkout. This coupon code is good for any glasses purchase at Bestbuyeyeglasses.com. All glasses come with an easy return policy.
The FDA has sent out a recall for the Peter Pan and Great Value brands of peanut butter whose product code (which can be found on the jar lid) begins with the number 2111. Both brands of these jars have been manufactured in the same factory in Gerogia and are believed to be contaminated with Salmonella Tennessee, that can cause foodbourne illnesses. If you have this peanut butter you can recieve a refund for them at any walmart store.
Often times some really great music artists are independant. Unsigned.com is a website that allows us to find unsigned artists that we like and in turn gives unsigned artists a greater audience to listen to them. Even allowing artists to create their own CD's to sell.
Unsigned.com features a variety of artists from all different genre's such as country, classical, bulegrass, rock, Metalcore Artists and more. You can also view pictures and biographies of the artists.
You will need to sign up for a free account in order to listen to the artists. I'll have to listen to some country artists and I'll let y'all know if I find some good music.
I am sure that all of us have stress to some degree in our lives. Especially as parents you never stop worrying about your children that you sometimes we forget to take care of ourselves. Here are some great tips on reducing the stress in your life.
Valentines is over now but maybe you want to find someone special to be with for next valentines.
I never had a valentines date until I got married but I do have to say that I am happy to be out of the dating scene and married to a wonderful guy. If you are looking for a date for valentines, justsayhi.com is a Free Dating site. It really is 100% free, which I've never heard of in a dating site.
Online dating has never been my thing but I do know people who met their spouse online and are really happy together.
If you are planning or already do home school your children, here is a great website to learn about homeschooling laws in your state http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp I learned that there are very few laws regarding homeschooling in Idaho. But other states such as New York make it a little harder for parents to begin homeschooling their children. It doesn't seem too difficult to begin homeschooling in any of the Canadian Provinces. www.hslda.ca
Earlier today I wrote a post about how bloggers are now making more money with Pay Per Post. I have had some people ask me how much I have made with Pay Per Post. In Just one month I will have made $200 and over all I have about $500 in just 3 months. Some people do make a lot more than I do, if you have more blogs, higher page ranks and time to blog a lot you can make over $500 a month.
I only use Pay Per Post for this blog and I will be starting another one next month and with a 10 month old who demands a lot of attention I don't blog as much as I would like to but I am very happy with the money I make doing Pay Per Post.
I use the money I make off my blogs to pay for the internet and webhosting. I am going to use the leftover money from my january earnings to buy some fabric to give a shot at starting up a small home based business making cloth diapers, blankets and other things. I also need to make some cloth diapers for my baby. I hope it works out well and maybe with Pay Per Post and this little business I can make enough money to pay for the doctor visits and hospital fees for baby number two.
If you have some blogs let them help make you some money with Pay Per Post. There is a link in the sidebar which will take you to where you need to sign up with them.
Valentines Day is a day of love, I felt loved yesterday when I found love notes around the house from my husband. In our laptop, the cereal box and even on our daughter's diaper!
It is fun to see what other people do for Valentines day. I enjoyed reading about other blogger's valentines.
Kim was able to take work off and took her husband out for dinner, it was also his birthday.
Autmn had plans to go out for Thai food with her valentine but her plans got changed. She also recieved some nice gifts.
Deb likes to decorate her blog for the holidays. Check out her cute Valentines theme before it gets changed!
For those of you who have never heard of Pay Per Post, it is a great way to make money blogging. Bloggers can log in and see what advertisers want them to advertise and then they can write a blog post about that advertisers products or services and get paid for it!
When I first started writing posts for Pay Per Post I got paid $2.50 for most of my posts, now all of the posting opportunities are between $5 and $1,000. No, that's not a typo, you really can get $1,000 for just writing one blog article. The highest I've gotten is $20 which I am really happy about. I get paid more blogging than I do at my minimum wage job, and it's a whole lot more fun!
I also feel that Pay Per Post is the most ethical business of it's kind. They only charge advertisiers a 35% markup fee, while other companies such as Reviewme charge advertisers a 100% markup fee.
If you are interested in signing up with Pay Per Post you can click on the link in the side bar and start making money! You will need a blog that is more than 90 days old, with at least 20 posts. To see the other requrements look at their Terms Of Service. When you write a Pay Per Post article you will also need to make sure that you have a disclosure statement on your blog. There are many different ways to do this and more information can be found on their website.
I live in a mobile home and our trailer park has hardly any light. It does feel a little creepy at night but I live in a very safe city and at night time if I go outside I'm usually with my husband.
But you can never be too safe that is why it is important to be in a well lit area including parking lots.
I did find a great website for Home Lighting Fixtures. They have everything from basic outdoor lights to help keep you safe at night as well as fancy lights that would be perfect for a nightime summer party.
I was visiting a fellow blogger Amy Jo's blog. She wrote a post about how she saves money on cheese, I thought it was funny because I have done the same thing! Grated cheese freezes very well and it is perfect for the next time you make pizza.
I am really excited about today because I am going to go to this fabric store that I heard was really good and inexpensive. I have been spending months trying to find a good fabric store in Eastern Idaho and then I heard about hancock fabrics in Idaho Falls. It's about 40 minutes away so I hope it's worth the trip. I am planning on buying some fabric to make my daughter some cloth diapers. I would also like to maybe start a little cloth diaper business. I am going to try and sell some on e-bay and see how that goes!
Almost all children love to colour and be creative. A great actity for your kids to do on Valentines is to make their own Valentine Cards for the people they love. Here are some cards that you can print off and let your kids colour. You can also provide other materials that can be glued to the cards such as glitter, tissue paper, etc...
Have you seen the new T-mobile commercial where this group of guys tell their boss that they worked it out to where T-mobile customers can talk to 5 friends on any network for free. Then the boss said that the only thing better would be 10 friends on any network for free?
I have been a T-mobile customer for almost a year now and I am very happy with the price of their service as well as the great customer service. My contract ends in April and I think maybe when we go to renew it that we should look into the MyFave's plan. It would be awesome if this would include in Canada, where my family but I doubt that it does, It is worth asking about. Even if it is only for friends in the US it is still a great deal because that way my husband can talk to his family more during the weekdays. We only have 300 week day minutes so we usually only talk to our families during the weekends.
I have found that one of the best places to shop for cell phones online is wirefly.com, they always have great deals. Until March 31, 2006 if you sign up for any T-mobile phone plan that is 34.99 or more per month you will get a $50 rebate! You can also find a wide variety of T-Mobile phones on wirefly.
My Sister-in-law is starting something new on her blog, she is going to highlight a former soviet ethnicity a day. She will be adding music, recipes and more information about those countries. I am really looking forward to learning more about these ethnicities. I have German-Russian Ancestry so I'm hoping she will be highlighting that group soon.
A few weeks ago I wrote a post about the inspirational story behind the fashion company, Belisi.
Belisi now has his own radio station! He uses the same qualities to choose music as he does for fashion. The qualities include sopistication, beauty and classic. On Belisi Radio you will find a wide variety of artists such as Billy Joel, Chris Tomlin and Coldplay. I tuned into Belisi Radio for a bit and all the songs that played were country music which I was fine with since I love country!
As I mentioned in my previous post about Belisi is that I love the fact that he gives a portion of his proceeds to charities. It always seems to me that the most successful people are those who give to others.
I have found it so hard to find fabric at a good price. I was talking to some friends and asked about where there are some good places to buy fabric at cheap prices. Someone told me about Hancock Fabrics, so I searched it online and found that they have a website hancockfabrics.com They also have a location about 40 minutes away from me. I am going to try and go there this weekend! If you would like to buy fabric from Hancock's but don't have a location close to you, it would be worth it to shop online as there shipping rates are very reasonable.

I know that I think of the washing machine as a self cleaning machine. When you wash your clothes doesn't that clean your washing machine?
According to doityourself.com if you clean your washing machine on a regular basis with the steps the website lists that it will help your clothes look their cleanest and brightest.
I my personal finance class I took a couple years ago our teacher had us compete in a virtual stock market, with virtual money to see who could make the most money in stocks. And I won! The teacher gave me a CD of "money" songs as a prize.
It would be great if I could make it big in real life with stocks, but I am afraid of taking risks. I have recently heard about penny stocks which sound interesting and have a lot less risk involved.
I am sure almost all of us have heard that according to the US and Canadian groundhog we will have a shorter winter and spring is around the corner. I find it very funny that some scientists are using this prediction to prove the effects of global warming. I guess we can expect to see groundhogs representing our countries at the next summit where global warming is being discussed.
As a Mom who wants to stay at home with her children during the days I am always looking for ways to make money from home. Since my husband is a full-time student and only works less than 20 hours a week I know that the money I make really helps our family.
I am currently making between $100 - $200 each month just by doing stuff online. You can find a great resource to finding out about ways to make money at home doing online and offline work here. There is also information on avoiding work at home scams. Some of my advice is if it's too good to be true it probably is and never pay someone so that you can work for them.
Here is an interesting story about a woman who faked her own death and then showed up for the memorial service! I found the woman's reason behind doing this very strange. Just goes to show that your lies will always be revealed.
I think the technology available for those with handicaps is really remarkable. I know several people who drive handicapped equipped vans and it is great to know that eventhough they may not be able to walk they can still drive and those with wheelchairs can have their chairs lifted up and down from the van for them.
Here is a valuable resource on handicap van conversions. It gives information on different types of vans, safety and funding that is available.
I have been following the story of the sextuplets born in British Columbia for a month. Two of the sextuplets have recently passed away and the other four are still in the hospital. This situation has become controversial as the parents of these babies are Jehovah’s Witnesses and the babies need blood transfusions. The government has temporarily seized custody of the babies and are allowing them to be given blood transfusions. The parents are of course furious. One thing that surprised me is how often the media brings up that the parents are only fighting the blood transfusions so they wont be shunned by their church. I don’t know the family so I don’t know how true that is.
The question I would like comments on is should the government be given this kind of control and how far should it be allowed to go? Is there other medical technology that can be used?
Does your gym or apartment owners pay you to refer your friends or do you want some cash for joining a gym or signing an apartment lease? Who doesn't like disney movies? Almost everyone does. And now you can find out what www.quizfarm.com says which disney character you are most like. My score is below the post. I don't really think I'm like cinderella, maybe except for the fact that I always loose things.
You scored as Cinderella. Your alter ego is Cinderella! You often find yourself doing a lot of housework, but if you are patient, your hard work usually pays off. You are prone to losing things, so dont rush through everything.
Each month my husband and I make an ethnic dish that we have never tried before, well since we've been married, he served a mission in Mongolia so he's had all that food. We have had mexican, east indian and mongolian.
I came across this blog that highlights the best foods and recipes of Malaysia. We will have to add some malaysian recipes to our menu now! The donuts look like they would make a yummy dessert. There are also free recipes you can download on PDF.
This would also be a great resource for anyone planning a vacation to Malaysia. You will be sure to find the best places to eat and learn more about Malaysian culture and things to do there.
Welcome to my place on the web! I believe that parents are the biggest influence in their children's lives, so a lot of what I write will focus on parenting and education. So a lot of this might be of interest to teachers as well. I hope you find the list of learning activies useful.
